Residential
This project was set on a dramatic site overlooking Shotover River near Queenstown. To avoid disrupting the environment and protect from inclement weather, the house was partially buried, creating a passive-energy, cave-like shelter using local schist stone and old bridge timber. The home is nestled within the landscape, featuring impeccable stonework ramparts, light entering through multiple skylights, a French fireplace, and a classic view of Coronet Peak framed perfectly for the bedroom and living area.
